Meal Ministry Many times people are in need of meals while they're recovering from an illness, recuperating from surgery or a hospital stay, bringing home a new baby or have had a death in the family. The Prayer Shawl Ministry is a group of people who enjoy knitting and crocheting shawls to give to hurting people, whether it be physical or emotional hurting. We pray for the person who will receive the shawl while we are making it. We don't always know who the shawl is for but we can pray and God knows who will benefit from the shawl. If you know of someone who would benefit from a shawl or want one for yourself, you are welcome to request one through the church office at 395.3114 and they will contact the coordinators of the Prayer Shawl group. We welcome anyone who enjoys knitting or crocheting who would like to join us. We welcome those who would enjoy making fleece shawls or quilting shawls as well. Our making of shawls, in whatever fabric or yarn, is our way of reaching out to others. We meet the 3rd Tuesday of every month at 2 p.m. in room C164 at Central Wesleyan Church. "Make it your goal to live a quiet life and work with your hands." 1 Thessalonians 4:11
One of the happy surprises of adoptive parenting is the friendship and camaraderie found in adoption groups. Sometimes friends and family don't understand the joys and challenges of raising children whose ethnicity, special needs or personal histories may set them apart. But support groups can provide information, companionship and enrichment you won't find elsewhere. We meet every third Wednesday from 7-8 p.m. For more info, call Holly at 616.395.3138.
