Welcome to Central Wesleyan

Two training sessions are required for all volunteers. These sessions, including one session at VanRaalte K-3 School, will give you an understanding of the child as well as appropriate educational skills. They are designed to make your experience fruitful and fulfilling.

Step 1: Download and print off or click here to fill out an online application and police check form. State law requires that we have a background check on file for anyone who has contact with children.
NOTE: If you are applying as a prayer partner only, you do not need to fill out a police check.

Step 2: You will be contacted to come in for a face-to-face interview so we can get to know you. This aids us in assigning you the “right” child. You can also get any of your questions answered.

Step 3: Register online or indicate at your interview which training date you will attend. A three-hour training is required for new mentors to equip you to begin mentoring a child.

Step 4: Attend the Orientation session (scheduled on Wednesday, Oct. 1 at 11:15 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.) at VanRaalte where you will:
• Learn how to sign in and out
• Be informed of where materials can be accessed
• Meet your teacher
• Establish Day and Time you will tutor
• Meet your student
• Tour of the building
• Meet Principal Anna Clawson and Office Clerk Diana Sandoval

Step 5: Begin to faithfully mentor on the day and time you and your teacher set.
