bridge.pngOur mission is to become fully-devoted followers of Christ as we build redemptive bridges of influence to reach Holland and beyond.

We have 10 core values that guide us at Central. We desire that they define and drive this ministry in the context of a warm, caring and growing environment. These values are understood to be the constant, passionate, biblical core beliefs that propel the ministry of our church. We aspire to be:

Biblically Faithful: We make Scripture the final authority rather than church tradition or popular opinion. We strive to teach God's Word with integrity and authority so that seekers find Christ and believers mature in Him. We believe that anointed teaching is the catalyst for transformation in the lives of individuals and the church.
—2 Timothy 3:16-17, James 1:23-25

Worship Driven: We desire to acknowledge God’s supreme value and worth both in our personal lives and in the corporate worship of our church. We believe it is in the process of being worshiped that God communicates His presence to people.
—Luke 10:38-41, John 4:23-24, Revelation 4 & 5

Prayer Empowered: We rely on both private and corporate prayer in the conception, planning and execution of all the ministries and activities of this church. We believe that human effort is not enough. Intercessory prayer is Jesus' strategy for empowering the church and reaching the world.
—John 16:23-24, Matthew 7:7-11, 1 John 5:14-15

World Focused: We reach beyond our own culture as we seek to have an effective impact on other cultures with the gospel. We believe that raising up laborers for cross-cultural and world outreach is essential both for fulfilling the Great Commission and for building fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ.
—Matthew 9:37-38, Matthew 28:18-20, Acts 1:8, Luke 10:1

Believer Equipping: We seek to help people to grow spiritually. We provide biblical instruction and encourage believers to discover and exercise their spiritual gifts. We believe that the health of the church is dependent upon active lay participation.
—1 Corinthians 12, Romans 2:3-13

Family Affirming: We seek to provide an atmosphere which strengthens marriages, matures families, and affirms the value of single adults. We are committed to strong youth and children's programs that build fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ.
—2 Timothy 1:5

Culturally Relevant: We try to adapt our ministry to current needs and trends in American life without compromising biblical integrity. We attempt to relate to our culture with sensitivity through our people, ministries, facility, printed materials and use of the arts.
—1 Corinthians 9:19-23, Matthew 25:44-45, Proverbs 14:31a

Seeker Friendly: We know that lost people matter to God, and so they matter to us as well. We know that many who are not yet committed to Christ are attracted to our ministry; therefore, we desire to create a non-threatening environment in which they are free to explore the Christian faith at their own pace.
—Luke 5:30-32, Luke 15, Matthew 18:14

Relationally Centered: We believe that loving, godly relationships should permeate every aspect of church life. This includes the concepts of a love-driven ministry, ministries accomplished in teams and relationship building. Value is placed on developing such relationships in the context of groups.
—1 Corinthians 13, Nehemiah 3, John 13:34-35, Ephesians 4:11-16

Consistently Excellent: Since God gave His very best (the Savior), we seek to honor Him by maintaining a high standard of excellence in all our ministries and activities. We believe that excellence is in keeping with the nature of the Creator and taps an incredible source of energy from people.
—Colossians 3:17, Malachi 1:6-14

We believe that embracing these values will lead us on a journey toward becoming fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ. Nothing less than full devotion will suffice to meet the challenges facing the world today. We understand that this pursuit of full devotion to Christ and His cause is normal for every believer. Normal Christianity, not average, is the kind that impacts culture and is synonymous with the concept of holiness, obedience, servanthood, and the pursuit of Kingdom goals.

These 10 core values will be the “road map” that guides us to the destination of our mission.
