3. Encourage, care, support and review the Senior Pastor
4. Determine policy matters—staff, congregation, crisis
5. Support the Wesleyan Denomination
6. Encourage and support ministry staff
7. Be responsive to ministry content and impact
8. Perform exit interviews for ordained staff

Service
1. Leadership by example
2. Encourage staff and congregation
3. Care for the hurting
4. Participate in program requests

Govern
1. Establish mission, vision and values
2. Request, review and support goals of staff
3. Participate in long-range planning
4. Endorse Deacon board activity
5. Review/affirm hiring of ministry staff
6. Select Deacon replacements

What do you do for a living? We sold our business about two years ago. Now I'm building furniture and recently making banjos!
Where did you grow up? I grew-up in Zeeland.
What is your spouse's name? Linda.
How many children/grandchildren do you have? Our daughter, Patty is married to Aaron and they have 9-year-old Noah and 5-year-old Rebeccah>Our son, Dan is married to Lisa and they have two sons: Brandon who is 4 years old and Justin who is 2.
What's your favorite Bible verse? Matthew 8:2-3
Do you have a funny nickname? Some 50+ years ago, my dad gave me the nick name "Bubbles," which fortunately didn't stick.
What's your favorite food? Anything chocolate.

 

Scott Bolthouse

What do you do for a living? I am the owner of Lakeshore Senior Care, providing in-home care for seniors.
Where did you grow up? Big Rapids. I have warm memories of playing tennis, bicycling and going on family camping trips.
What is your spouse's name? Gwen.
How many children/grandchildren do you have? We have two boys: Connor (age 13) and Alex (age 12) along with Lacy (age 4), our Golden Retriever.
What's your favorite Bible verse? Romans 12:1-2
Do you have a funny nickname? Not yet...
What's your favorite food? Pizza and seafood (I also have a sweet tooth, which is a match for Gwen's baking!).

How many children/grandchildren do you have? We have three kids: Brett, 22; Nicole, 21; and Ryan, 17. They all attend Central.

Dean Kapenga

What do you do for a living? I am a retired Sgt. from the Allegan County Sherriff Department. I currently am a Commissioner for Allegan County, and I work part-time at Pro Vision Transport as the Safety Director.
Where did you grow up? I grew up in Holland.
What is your spouse's name? Jan Kapenga
How many children/grandchildren do you have? I will list oldest to youngest: Ben Kapenga, Aaron Kapenga, Daniel Kapenga and Rachael Kapenga. Ben is married to Sarah Kapenga, and they have two children: Emilyn and Isaiah. Aaron Kapenga is married to Elisebeth, and they have five children: Noah, Albrey, Jack, Mark and Grace. Daniel Kapenga is married to Amanda Kapenga, and they have two children: Maliki and Corah. Rachael is getting married this summer to Keith Lamb. So we have 9 grandchildren.

What do you do for a living? I manage a small engineering office in Zeeland part-time, and also the office of our 31-year-old construction company—Ace Builders Inc. My favorite job, though, is being a mom.
Where did you grow up? Zeeland, Michigan, born and raised!

How many children/grandchildren do you have? We have four children: Renae is 27, Peter is 24, Kara is 22 and Matt is 17.
