Short-term teams give our people "hands on" connection to world missions. This is an important aspect of our global ministry. Short-Term Missions Teams for 2012:
Leadership Team to Bombali Bana, Sierra Leone February 20–28, 2012 This team will visit our partners in Sierra Leone, West Africa. They will be involved in development projects of farming in the village and leading training sessions for the World Hope Sierra Leone staff as well as Wesleyan pastors. Trip Leader: Paul Hontz Cost: $1,500*
Medical/Health Professional Team to Sierra Leone March 21–30, 2012 This team will be assisting the medical staff at the health clinic in Binkolo, Sierra Leone. This clinic supplies the medical needs of neighboring villages, including Bombali Bana. Huge crowds will come from nearby villages for routine medical checkups that are not usually accessible for everyone. This team will also be doing medical checkups on the World Hope sponsored children around Bombali Bana and those in the nearest city of Makeni. Trip Leaders: Ray & Shari Visscher Cost: $1,100*
Outreach and Humanitarian Ministry in Central Asia March 29–April 7 Work alongside our missionaries as they do outreach ministries and bring materials for relief work to villages and orphanages in a former Soviet country of Central Asia. This team will be able to visit a house church and worship with former Muslims. Cost is $1,100*
Poland English Language Camp July 13–30 Assist The Wesleyan Church of Poland this summer as they hold an evangelistic camp for high school teens. This team will be responsible for teaching English for 4 hours each day of the camp. Participants will also be a part of a worship service at the Wesleyan church in Krakow, Poland. Trip Leader: Lance Young Cost $1,900*
Guatemala Construction and VBS Ministry August 12–19 The country of Guatemala has recently been through some terrific storms and many families are in need of adequate shelter. This team will be involved in building basic housing for families. Also, team members will lead in vacation Bible school ministries for children of the community. Trip Leader: Dean Kapenga Cost: (yet to be determined)*
*Expenses for short-term mission teams are underwritten by contributions to Faith Giving for missions at Central Wesleyan Church. Costs are estimates until airline tickets are purchased. Cost for each team member does not include passport and required immunizations, which each participant will need to pay themselves.
The Global Ministries office can take passport photos for $5. Call 395.3079 to make an appointment. Passport applications are available online from the U.S. Department of State. Applications for these trips are available to download or at the Influence kiosk in the Main Lobby on Sundays. Once you've applied, your application will be reviewed, and then teams will be formed. Teams may be canceled due to lack of applicants or to destination issues.
