Short-Term Missions

Short-term teams give our people "hands on" connection to world missions. This is an important aspect of our global ministry. Short-Term Missions Teams for 2010:


Karis Project | April 1-11 (closed)
This team will work alongside our World Hope workers to serve the Karis people. They will participate in English conversation clubs, distribute clothes and gift packs to refugees and orphans, experience a house church and encourage our missionaries. This is a great opportunity to learn about Muslim culture and gain a better understanding of the Islamic world.
Cost: $950*

Jamaica College & Young Adult Team | May 8-15 (closed)
This college & young adult team will serve with the Caribbean Christian Center for the Deaf. A short-term ministry team could be involved in the following work:
• Construction: concrete work with block and mortar.
• Orphanage ministry: providing a Vacation Bible School Program for the children.
• Sports Ministry: soccer and track and field activities.
• Teaching English to hearing children of deaf parents to help prepare them for school by reading books, playing games and having conversation.

Ukraine | June (closed)
This team will serve alongside the people from the Transformation Church, our sister church in Kiev, Ukraine. Part of the time will be spent serving at a Marriage Retreat for couples. The team will also assist in a camp for teens in middle school, many of whom are not believers. They will also attend a Sunday service at Transformation. Come and help us in the outreach ministry of the Transformation Church!

Russia | July 2-13
(closed)
This team will serve alongside the Vladimir Wesleyan Church assisting with their Family Summer Camp. The team will lead in games, crafts, music and sharing. They will also participate in a Russian church service. Come and experience Christian camping in Russia.

Sierra Leone | September 30-October 9 (open)
This short term team will be involved in ministry and help to create a bond between our congregation and the people of Bombali Bana for future ministry.

This trip is first a get acquainted trip and relations building trip to meet the people of Bombali Bana in their village, in their culture, while also providing an initial tangible improvement and support to the village. This group will also provide in-depth information to deeply understand Bombali Bana and its people giving to CWC personal history and stories to share and catalyze our church as a whole.

Goals for this team:

  1. To provide an initial level of tangible impact direct from CWC to Bombali Bana and to establish a fundamental “family” relationship between CWC and Bombali Bana.
  2. To establish the foundation for more mission specific project oriented teams in the future.
  3. To train and equip a core group from CWC to spread vision and passion to CWC, especially during World Impact in November.


Specific activities:

  1. Work project: health care clinic near Bombali Bana (health care supply distribution)
  2. Work project: elementary school in Bombali Bana (school supply distribution & teacher packs)
  3. Work project: any current project in Bombali Bana that World Hope Sierra Leone has set up
  4. Work project: World Hope Sierra Leone offices (anything that needs to be done around the grounds or at the offices in Makeni.)
  5. Possible Village overnight stay – 2 days 1 night in the village, possible staying in the school.
  6. Ministry project of encouragement to World Hope Sierra Leone staff (food, entertainment, prayer, teaching, worship)
  7. Ministry outreach day to Bombali Bana (food, entertainment, prayer, teaching, worship)
  8. Prayer walking and intercession within Bombali Bana
  9. Evening structured education and debriefing of team to deepen understanding of village and project.


Trip outcomes:

  1. Relationship deepened and established between CWC and the people of Bombali Bana
  2. Tangible/ visual improvement in the school, health center and village
  3. Tangible/ visual improvement in World Hope Sierra Leone headquarters in Makeni
  4. Creation of a specific intercession program to launch in CWC
  5. Ministry outreach and intervention to both World Hope Sierra Leone and Bombali Bana
  6. Securing of additional personal/human interest stories to utilize in CWC promotions
  7. Strengthened foundation for success of upcoming well drilling, teach mentoring latrine building etc teams in the future.


If you would like to be a part of this trip you can fill out an application.
The cost for the trip will be $1,118 plus airfare (about $2,000). With the backing of our Faith Promise Giving will be charging $2,400 for people who want to go on this trip.

The Global Ministries office can take passport photos for $5. Call 395.3079 to make an appointment. Applications for these trips are available to download or at the Influence kiosk in the Main Lobby on Sundays. Once you've applied, your application will be reviewed, and then teams will be formed. Teams may be canceled due to lack of applicants or to destination issues.
