GUATEMALA

Central has been sending teams to Guatemala for over 20 years. We currently partner with Grace Ministries, a church that works with local pastors in Guatemala who help identify the most pressing needs in their communities. These same pastors help us in organizing Vacation Bible School, Youth Rally’s , and a food distribution. They locate and identify families in their communities that are in need of housing, and our Central team works to build homes for these families. During the building process, families are given a Prayer Shawl, Food, Dolls, Cars, Coloring Books, Soap, Lock for the Door, and a solar powered Audio Scripture device.

During Vacation Bible school and Youth Rally’s, 100’s of children are presented the story of Jesus, through stories and crafts. A clear gospel presentation is given, allowing kids and parents alike to raise their hands and accept Jesus’ gift of salvation. Pastor Lazaro, who is on staff with Grace Ministries, heads up a feeding center in which Central teams also have the opportunity to impact children for Christ. Lessons are given on hand-washing and germ transmission in order to prevent illness. Distribution of toothbrushes and small tubes of toothpaste are followed by lessons on dental hygiene.

Central team members have the privilege to present lessons with Wordless Books, that tell the story of God, Man, Sin and Jesus. This week long trip gives Central team members the opportunity to show love and encouragement to the leaders/pastors in Guatemala and in their communities. These same leaders continue to encourage lasting transformation in the lives of their community members through on-going relationships and continued programs. This experience in Guatemala is incredible and provides a life-long impact to all.
