WHEN YOU BRING YOUR CHILD TO NURSERY
Please ensure that your child’s bottles, cups, pacifiers and other personal belongings are labeled. Also be sure to notify the check-in desk as well as your child’s teacher of any allergies your child may have. Please fill in the binder on the counter of your baby’s classroom with any information about feeding, sleeping, etc. that will help us provide the best care for your baby. While your child is in nursery, our staff will play with your child, and for those who are 10 months or older, a snack of Cheerios or goldfish may be provided. All babies and toddlers will have their diaper checked and changed if necessary by a room supervisor or another female.
CHECK-IN
Check-in begins 15 minutes prior to the service time. To make your very first check-in easy, you may wish to pre-register your child online. When you check in at the desk, a name tag will be provided for your child. In order to maintain maximum security and safety, we have adopted the InSync System. We will send you a text to your cell phone if you are needed during the services. If we contact you, you are requested to return to the Lower Lobby desk where a staff member will assist you. You must have a check-in slip to be able to enter the children’s area.

CHECK-OUT
As a safety precaution, a check-out slip will be required when you pick up your child. When you check-in your child, you will receive your check-out slip. Please hold onto this slip until pick-up. Only authorized parents or legal guardians are allowed to check children out. You must have a visible check-out slip to enter the children’s area to pick up your child. If you lose your check-out slip, please see someone at the check-in desk with your licence and if you are an authorized guardian, we can print you a new slip.
PROMOTION
All the Nursery children are promoted two times a year: once in the winter and once in the fall. You will be notified before a promotion takes place. Please understand that rooms go by ages, and not all children will move up at every promotion. Your child’s room number is on his or her name tag.
SEPARATION ANXIETY
Around your child’s first birthday (and sometimes sooner) he or she may develop separation anxiety, getting upset when a parent tries to leave him or her with someone else. Though separation anxiety is a perfectly normal part of childhood development, it can be unsettling for you as a parent. Babies and toddlers adapt pretty well to other caregivers—you probably feel more anxiety about being separated than your child! As long as their needs are being met, most children adjust easily to other people. If your child continues to cry and we cannot distract, console or involve him or her in play, we will contact you.
