At Central we know that "life" happens and it isn't always easy. Hard times can happen at any moment, regardless if it is a one time event or an ongoing hurt, habit or hang-up. Our desire at Central is to support you as you journey through life by listening, encouraging and praying.
We believe that care happens best in community and offer a variety of ways for you to get connected to resources both at Central and in the community.

On Sundays visit our Care room in the the lobby
Call Central (616.392.7084), email email@example.com, or visit the Central Care Room off the lobby on Sunday mornings after each service. Although everyone on our staff cares deeply about the people of Central, a passing conversation on a busy Sunday morning can get lost in the shuffle so reaching out directly to our Care Team is the best of way of assuring your care need is not overlooked.
We have trained volunteers who are there to listen and pray with you. You will be warmly welcomed and encouraged to share what you’re comfortable sharing regarding your circumstances and prayer concerns. We encourage our volunteers not to offer advice, but lead you in seeking God’s guidance through prayer. If follow-up is needed with the Care Team you may be asked to fill out a Care Request form which will be submitted to our Care Team on Monday morning.
Because we believe that Jesus is our best resource, the first step in our care process is always prayer. From there, we will determine other ways we can empower you to move with God through your life circumstances. That could mean a one-on-one visit, resource connections, or a referral to an outside specialist.
Someone from our dedicated team would love to visit you if you are in a local hospital, medical center, recovery center, or homebound. While we care about everyone, we can’t guarantee we’ll be there in person prior to a surgery, but will schedule our visit depending on factors like weather, distance, and availability of our team members. If possible, someone will schedule a brief visit (15-30 mins) to listen, gather information, and pray accordingly. We are committed to, at the very least, praying with you by phone. We reserve the right to review each request on a case by case basis prior to approval.
First, if this is an emergency, please call 9-1-1, or if you’re contemplating suicide, please call 616-396-4357 or text HELLO to 741-741. For non-emergencies, call Central at 616-392-7083, press 1 and leave a detailed message including your name, phone number, and a description of your need. A member of our Care Team will contact you within 24 hours. You can also email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Prayer Wall can be found at centralwesleyan.org/prayer. This is a public site where you can post your request anonymously or use part or all of your name. If your request is public it will appear on the Prayer Wall and it will be sent to anyone who has subscribed to our Prayer Wall. If your request is private your request will only be seen by the Prayer Team and Executive Leadership.
If you post on behalf of someone else please do not use anyone’s last name unless you have express permission to do so.
All requests go through an approval process before being posted. We reserve the right to edit the post for spelling/grammar and privacy. If you request a response you will receive an email from someone on our Care Team.
If you want to subscribe to the Prayer Wall go to centralwesleyan.org/prayer and click Subscribe to Prayer Wall at the bottom of the page.
To show people you’ve been praying, you can select, “I prayed” and a heart icon will appear next to the request. If you want to leave a comment, there’s a space to do that, but those are also subject to approval.
We respect your request for information to be confidential. However, we’re mandated to break confidentiality if there’s a threat to harm yourself or others. However, if we do have to break confidentiality, only those personally involved in providing direct care would be privy to your information.
